About RipRef
RipRef is where collectors rate the boxes they open, so the next collector knows which format is worth the rip.

Why RipRef exists
Every card release comes in several formats – Hobby, Blaster, Mega, Hanger, Value box – and they are not the same deal. Before you buy, you want to know: which one is worth it?
Reviews of single boxes are everywhere, but one box is one experience. RipRef collects the rips of many collectors, format by format, so the answer comes from the community and not from one lucky or unlucky box.
How the call is made
You rate the box you opened on four axes: Value, Hit rate, Design and Rip fun. When a format has at least five rips, the Ref makes the call – Rip it, Maybe or Skip it – from the average of everyone's scores.
The Ref has no opinion of its own. Nobody at RipRef sets or adjusts a call, and every call shows how many rips it is based on. How to rate explains the scale.
What RipRef is not
- Not a shop. We don't sell boxes and don't show prices. Prices change between countries, stores and weeks, and a wrong price misleads more than it helps. Value is each collector's own judgment of what the box was worth to them.
- Not affiliated with any card manufacturer. Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, Leaf and other names belong to their owners. Product details come from the manufacturers and authorised retailers, and we leave a field empty rather than guess.
- Not for sale to advertisers. No tracking cookies, no third-party ads, and your personal data is never sold. See Privacy.
Who's behind it
RipRef is built by Mattias, a collector from Sweden, who also opens boxes on the YouTube channel BazRips. His profile carries the Founder of RipRef badge so you always know when you're reading his ratings. They count exactly like everyone else's: no extra weight, no special placement, no say over the calls.
Fair play
- One rating per collector per format – you can edit it, but not stack it.
- Rate a box you actually opened, the whole box.
- Ratings and reviews that break the Terms are removed.
Support RipRef
RipRef is free and run by one collector. If you want to help keep it going, the best support is to rate the boxes you open – every rip makes the calls better.
